Anyone wishing to surrender their pet to Best Paws Rescue must complete a Surrender Request Application. Once we receive your submission, a member of our team will review the information and contact you to discuss your situation and any available options.

Vetting and Medical History

The Surrender Applicant is required to provide all available veterinary and medical records for the animal before Best Paws Rescue will consider accepting the animal into our program. This includes vaccination records, spay/neuter documentation, medical history, medications, and any known diagnoses or treatments.
Whenever possible, we request that the animal be current on all age-appropriate core vaccinations and be spayed or neutered prior to surrender. While we understand that this may not be possible in every situation, providing complete veterinary information helps us evaluate the animal's needs and ensure a smooth transition into rescue.

Behavior Evaulation

A behavioral evaluation is required for every animal and will be conducted by our Director/Resident Dog Trainer. The surrender applicant is responsible for transporting the animal to and from the evaluation. The applicant understands and acknowledges that the Director/Resident Dog Trainer reserve the right to decline acceptance of the animal at any point during the evaluation if it is determined that the animal is not an appropriate fit for our program.

Surrender Fee

If it is determined that Best Paws Rescue will accept the animal into its care, the surrender applicant may be required to pay a surrender fee. This fee helps offset the costs associated with the animal’s medical care, supplies, housing, and overall care while in the organization’s custody.
